The President's Challenge

presidential-physical-fitness-award-patchWe conclude our first kids week with a chance for you and your kids to take part in the President's Challenge.

Beginning on May 1st and running through July 24th you can participate in the challenge. This is a great way to get your kids excited about exercising since the end result is a signed certificate form the president himself! I remember doing this as a kid and I thought it was extremely cool to receive this award.

Perhaps the best part of all of this is that it is free. This year they have added even more great features to the program. If you follow this link to the Home Page of the challenge you can easily navigate your way to sign up and get your materials to get you started.

The program allows for kids to choose their favorite activities including the sport that they play to accumulate the hours needed each week to complete the challenge. I like how the program also offers multiple levels of commitment. For the really active kids they have the chance to go for the Bronze, Silver, or Gold awards as well as receiving the Presidential Fitness Certificate of Completion.

As a teacher I can also tell you that achieving awards like this is a great addition to your kids accomplishments when applying for positions they may wish to be a part of in High School. National Honor Society, Associated Student Body Officers, Class Presidents, and many other positions that are available will all ask for accomplishments in their respective applications. Items like the presidential fitness award are easy ways to boost your kids resume and make them feel great about their accomplishment.

Take this chance to get your kids going on the habit of exercise. The Presidents Challenge is far more meaningful to young children than it is to middle school and High School students so now i the time to let them achieve this great accomplishment. This will be one of those things they will be glad you had them do at some point later in their life. For now it is just  chance to get a cool certificate signed by President Obama.

I remember doing this at West Hills.
It was really fun for everyone to push themselves with their friends.
And very rewarding to get it.

"My body has not reacted well with working a desk job.  I am only 25, but have been having a lot of pain that has built up over the past 6 months...The cubicle workouts have truly helped, I cant even begin to tell you...so much better! Thanks Scott, love the routines!" Brandon
