If We Cared as Much About our Bodies as Our Cars we Would all Run a little Better.

I do not think I have ever mentioned this but I love cars. I have dreams of one day owning some type of car that is designed to go extremely fast. I have my lists possible cars that would fulfill this dream and one day who knows maybe I’ll get that chance. In the meantime I like to visit car shows or any other chances I have to see rare, usually foreign sports cars. The other day my son and I were getting ready to enter the free way when 2 Lamborghini Gallardo’s drove up next to us. Unlike the one pictured these 2 were lime green and the other orange. I quickly rolled down our windows so we could hear the incredible sound they made as they accelerated past us like we were still stopped. I looked down and realized we were already going 50 so I am sure they were near 100 m.p.h. already. My son and I were silent for a second and then in unison simply said, “Whoa”.
Enough daydreaming about impractical cars that serve no purpose but to pump up the male ego as my wife likes to remind me. The point in all of this was to tell you a funny story that happened a few weeks ago. I was looking at some real nice cars at a lot down the street from my house. The guy has his own private dealership and seems to deal mostly in Mercedes and BMW and some Audi models as well. They are all real nice. So I went over and talked with him for awhile hoping he would just give me one for free. No Luck.
What made me laugh was that as he sat there detailing one of the Mercedes he was talking about how much time he takes to make all of the cars look and run perfectly. He talked about alignment and calibration and a few fancy things I did not catch. He was so meticulous about every detail it made me want to go way into debt and buy one from him on the spot. I love cars but compared to this guy I was not even close. This guy really had a passion for automobiles and he took his love and made it into his life’s work.
The reason I found this ironic is that as he is going over the thousands of details on the car and how to take great care of it he was smoking and I noticed he was significantly overweight. I realized that he cared far more about his cars than he did his own body. If he was willing to put the time and effort into his body that he was his cars, I am willing to bet Usain Bolt might be wearing a silver medal right now. OK, maybe not but I am sure the guy would be in some pretty incredible shape.
Train2move has several goals but one of them is that we want to try and give you the tools to take care of your body. I know many of you have hobbies and activities that you love. We do not want to take you away from those. Instead we want to make sure your body never gets in the way of what you desire to do most.
Just a random thought but if you had to compare your body to a car what would it be? I think I would be an Audi R8! (I wish).
