After reading the post from yesterday regarding why we struggle to give up on our sweets my friend Debbie sent me this great list of reasons why you should avoid sugar. Perhaps this can serve as some motivation for you to take the sweets out of your diet for good. The List is long so I am going to put this in 2 posts. I also used to have a great list of reasons to give up soda. I have since lost the list but here is a link to the same basic material. It is amazing to think what we put into our bodies and that our body is still able to perform.
Here is the list of #1-54 Ways Sugar can Ruin Our Heath. Following the Second post will be a Bibliography to site all of the sources Debbie used to get this information to all of you. Sh has been dedicated to others health for a long time and I love how passionate she is about educating. Click on the Juice Plus link on the lower right side of the page to contact her. Thanks Debbie!

Bottom line – sugar causes weight gain and leads to disease. So why do we eat it? Addiction. Lots of my clients have kicked the habit by going strict low-carb for a week. They’re amazed at the lack of craving and hunger. When you get rid of the insulin response (by not eating sugar or more than 20 grams of carbs for a week) all kinds of amazing health benefits happen!

Very good point Patty. It is amazing how quickly the body will react to not having a constant supply of sugar.

I am so glad you added this info to your blog!! I was just reading an article the other day to my daughter about how people become addicted to sugar and how bad of a habit it is to break. I did a sugar free diet a year ago. I was was completely sugar free (including natural sugars from fruit) for 3-4 months. I did feel amazing. And Patty is right, you become less hungry and the cravings do go away. And just so you know I am not completely sugar free any more. I love fruit and you can’t take that away from me, and I did have a big piece of carrot cake this weekend. But it did change the way I eat and I am very conscious about how much sugar I consume on a regular basis.
